Responsibilities
As a Senior Consultant in User Experience Design, you will have many diverse responsibilities including:
Design/Technical Responsibilities
- Design detailed composites based on all the work that’s been completed to date
- Build HTML, CSS, and JavaScript representations of your designs that serve as templates engineers will use for the development phase
- Wield Flash like a pro, with mastery of animation techniques and ActionScript
- Hop in and out of the development phase to address lingering design tasks and perform more usability testing
- Mind meld with engineering as you work more and more on agile development projects
Information Architecture/Usability
- Critique the products of our clients and their competitors to create comprehensive heuristic evaluations and competitive/market reviews
- Concoct and lead information-gathering sessions with clients, users, or potential users
- Distill information from those sessions into understandable and useable findings that lay a path for design direction
- Complete your understanding of a product’s users by leading focus groups, contextual inquiries, and field studies
- Draft site maps, process flows, wireframes, prototypes, and anything else necessary to help clients and users understand how the site or application might work before it’s been built
- Plan and conduct iterative usability testing on everything from paper prototypes to functional prototypes and interpret the results
Business Development/Project Management
- Present our UX capabilities to potential clients, estimate consulting work, and participate in RFP processes
- Self-manage on small-to-medium projects or manage a team of UX individuals on larger ones
- Work closely with your engineering and project management teammates to ensure constraints are balanced nicely with a project’s scope and vision
Thought Leadership
- Play a vital role in deciding the future direction of UX at Bit Group
Requirements
- 7+ years of UX design experience
- 3+ years of consulting or freelance experience
- Strong HTML and CSS skills, and an understanding of JavaScript
- Excellent constructive communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Art or Design strongly preferred
- 2 plus years of experience with Office, Adobe products, Visio, etc.
- Experience participating in at least one agile development project
